Many of us have come to take for granted February as a month dedicated to Black folks without engaging intentionally with the principles, purpose, and founding of this month!

Through this conversation, our staff hopes to affirm and support in the national and international visibility of Black folks as a means of amplifying their celebration of self, community, and political and social institutionalities!

As we welcome and embrace the learnings in Black History Month with excitement and humility, it’s critical that we continue to commit to honoring Black youth and Black families daily and beyond this month!

CAIR-SAN DIEGO JOINS CITY LEADERS IN CONDEMNING AN CAIR-SAN DIEGO JOINS CITY LEADERS IN CONDEMNING ANTI-BLM HATE CRIME

In a statement, CAIR-SD Operations & Development Manager Omair Khan said:

“This incident should serve as a reminder that racial violence and prejudice against communities of color did not disappear with the removal of the previous White House administration. Unfortunately, there are many citizens who still harbor resentment toward communities of color, immigrants, and Muslims."

“It pains us to witness such racist incidents, especially during Black History Month, when we are focused on honoring Black Lives and their contributions to civil rights and justice.”

Khan urged community members to report any racially fueled remarks or actions to CAIR-SD’s Civil Rights Department by filing a report at ca.cair.com/sandiego/
