The San Francisco Bay Area Office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations condemns the carving of Nazi swastikas on vehicles near Monterey and Colusa Avenue in North Berkeley.

Jules Kragen, whose family is Jewish, found the disturbing sight on the side of his car Sunday morning. Three cars parked in a row were vandalized. A fourth car had a window smashed by a brick.

Jewish residents live in at least two of the households impacted. Police are investigating this incident as a hate crime.

“We denounce all acts of antisemitism, hate, and bigotry and we welcome the investigation led by law enforcement authorities,” said Senior Government Relations Coordinator at CAIR-SFBA Sameena Usman. “We will continue to support our Jewish community members as we seek to ensure safe and inclusive neighborhoods.”

Usman said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Asian hate, antisemitism, xenophobia, racism, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of hate.
