The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA) is hosting two candidate forums this week for the races of Congressional District 15 and Assembly District 20.

The forum happening on Friday, October 7 at Yaseen Burlingame Center is in conjunction with their Family Night dinner starting at 6:30pm. Members of the Muslim community will hear from confirmed candidates Assemblymember Kevin Mullin and San Mateo County Supervisor David Canepa, both of whom are running Congressional District 15. On Saturday, October 8 at 8:15pm, the Islamic Center of East Bay will hear from candidates running for Assembly District 20, Dublin Councilmember Shawn Kumagai and Liz Ortega have confirmed.

“CAIR-SFBA hosts candidate forums to empower the community with information about the people who aim to represent them in office,” said CAIR-SFBA Government Relations Coordinator Sameena Usman. “We also want to encourage the community to vote in the midterm elections where voter turnout is generally low while the stakes are high.”
