(SANTA CLARA, CA, 8/29/2016) – This Tuesday, August 30, at 9:00am, Santa Clara County Supervisor Dave Cortese will proclaim August as Muslim Appreciation Month.
This recognition follows the presentation of House Resolution 59 by Assemblymember Bill Quirk (D-Hayward), which recognizes the month of August 2016 as “Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month” in the state of California.
“I am proud to celebrate the first ever Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month by honoring generations of Muslim Americans for their many social, cultural, and economic contributions to California,” Assemblymember Quirk stated.

Mayor Sam Liccardo, Councilmember Ash Kalra, and the entire San Jose City Council followed suit with a local proclamation on August 16, and Santa Clara County is ending the month of August with a similar resolution.
The resolution recognizing Muslim contributions will presented on Tuesday, August 30 at Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting:

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors joins the State of California and many communities throughout the state in to acknowledge the rich history, contributions and guiding virtues of Muslim Americans, and is commending all Muslim communities in California for the lasting positive impact they have made toward the advancement of our county, state, and the entire country.
