The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned what it called President Trump’s “incitement to violence against American Muslims” after he retweeted Islamophobic videos from an anti-Muslim British political leader who has been charged in the United Kingdom with “religious aggravated harassment.”

“This morning, we were horrified to see that the President Tweeted three anti-Muslim videos from a British far right account. It should be no surprise that CAIR is predicting 2017 is on track to become one of the worst years for anti-Muslim hate crimes. Thus far this year, CAIR offices across the country have documented over 3,200 anti-Muslim hate crimes,” said Zahra Billoo, CAIR-SFBA Executive Director.

She added, “not only does this President call some white Supremacists “fine people” he gives them access to his own platform. They reach millions more people and have his endorsement. This President is signaling through his associations, policies, and words that Americans should hate Islam and Muslims. His actions put our entire community in danger.”
