October 25, 2014

This evening, Saturday, October 25th, the San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, in partnership with the Islamic Society of East Bay (ISEB) and the League of Women Voters, is hosting a Voter Education Forum.
The event is intended to provide an opportunity for American Muslims to learn more about the various decisions they will be making on Election Day, from the candidates for local office to the numerous ballot propositions.
The October 25th forum will feature individuals seeking elected office in the Fremont City Council and school board. Candidates will be asked to address issues important to minority communities, such as police profiling and school bullying.
What: Voter Education Forum
When: Saturday, October 25th at 8 PM
Where: Islamic Society of East Bay
33330 Peace Terrace, Fremont
“Forums like these provide a great opportunity for candidates to share their platforms with community members, and for voters to hear what they need to in order to make informed decisions when casting their votes” said CAIR-SFBA Government Relations Coordinator Sameena Usman, who will moderate the forum.
This is the fourth in a series of Voter Education Forums being hosted by CAIR-SFBA in the Bay Area. Previous forums were hosted at the San Ramon Valley Islamic Center, Al-Medina Education Center in Newark, and Muslim Community Association in Santa Clara. Candidates in attendance were running for mayor and city council seats, along with State Assembly Districts 16 and 25, State Senate district 10, and Congressional District 17.
In further efforts to mobilize American Muslims to vote, CAIR-CA recently published a voter guide – a compilation of resources to help community members vote in the 2014 mid-term elections on November 4. It can be downloaded here.
