WHAT: Press Conference on Executive Orders on Muslim Immigrants
WHEN: Thursday, January 26, 2:30PM PST
WHERE: 55 Columbus Ave., San Francisco
BACKGROUND: Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Asian Law Caucus (ALC), the Council on American-Islamic-Relations, San Francisco Bay Area Office (CAIR-SFBA), the National Lawyer Guild San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Immigration Committee, Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), and the ACLU of Northern California will hold a news conference to respond to executive orders signed by President Donald Trump restricting refugee admissions and immigration from Syria and six other Middle Eastern and African countries.
President Trump is anticipated to temporarily ban most refugees from entry to the United States. Yet another order will block visas from being issued to citizens of Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
The orders will be the actual implementation of what then-candidate Trump said would be a complete ban on Muslims entering the United States. Presenters will address the legal and community impact of the Executive Orders.
