We have been faced with unprecedented challenges: a global pandemic, a historic election, a recession, and yet, CAIR California (CAIR-CA) continues its work. I am so proud of what CAIR-CA accomplished in the past year.

Our work to enhance the understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims improved the lives of tens of thousands of Californians.

Thanks to the resiliency of the CAIR-CA staff and volunteers during the COVID-19 crisis, we were able to continue providing services uninterrupted. We went digital and expanded our grassroots efforts via phone calls and texts. The pandemic offered a chance to innovate and expand service types, drive by protests, and online events — we became even more accessible to our California community.

Even though we remained socially distanced, our community stayed connected.

On top of navigating the pandemic, CAIR-CA kept to its core mission. We helped more than 1,000 Californians through the complex immigration process. We sought justice and community-based solutions for hundreds of people facing oppression. We ended policies that disproportionately targeted people and communities of color.

As a team, we are celebrating our past year’s accomplishments and are eager to see what is to come. If this year has taught us anything it is that no matter what, CAIR-CA will have your back.
